How a wood-fired hot tub heats

The stainless steel stove heats the water in the tub: you light the fire, feed it softwood or hardwood, and the heat passes into the water. A chimney with heat protection and a rain cap carries the smoke away; it comes with the base configuration.

The stove is either built into the tub or external. The choice affects the space inside the tub and the heating time.

How long to allow for heating

The manufacturer gives indicative heating times, shorter in summer than in winter. They depend on the water volume, the starting temperature and the stove; they do not replace written confirmation for your project.

When to add an electric booster heater

Electric heating is an option: it does not replace the stove, it complements it. It can keep or raise the temperature without relighting the fire. Several units are offered (Gecko with display, Pahlen Incoloy or titanium), single- or three-phase depending on output, to be connected by an electrician.

Electric heating requires a suitable supply on your property. It is one of the points to check before the quotation.

How to choose

  • You enjoy the fire and independence: wood-fired base, no electricity.
  • You want flexibility: wood-fired base with optional electric heating.
  • You also want jets, lighting or filtration: plan for a power supply anyway.
