Looking after a wood-fired hot tub: good habits

A wood-fired hot tub needs simple, regular care. This guide covers general principles; precise instructions (products, frequencies, winterising) depend on your model and follow the manufacturer’s manual.

The lid, your first ally

The folding insulated lid is included. Closing it after every bath keeps leaves, dust and insects out of the water and helps retain heat.

Water: renewal and cleanliness

Water volume ranges from 700 l (Ofuro) to 1,900 l (Eye) depending on the model. Without filtration, the water is renewed more often; filtration (optional) keeps it clean for longer. It must be possible to drain the tub where it stands, which is a point to check before buying.

Water treatment products and doses depend on the tub material and use. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and ask us for the documentation for your model.

The cladding wood

The outer cladding is Scandinavian spruce, thermowood or composite depending on the configuration. Wood exposed to the weather changes over time: regular cleaning with clean water and a surface treatment suited to the chosen species help preserve its appearance. Composite needs less treatment than natural wood.

The stove and chimney

The stove is stainless steel. After use, removing the ashes once the stove is cold and watching the condition of the chimney are habits worth forming. 316 stainless steel is available as an option for more demanding environments.

Winter and periods of non-use

A full tub that freezes can be damaged. Before a cold spell or a long absence, the general rule is to drain the tub, clean it and close it. Winterising instructions for your model will be given in the manufacturer’s documentation.

Frequently asked questions

How often should the water be changed?

It depends on how often the tub is used and whether it has filtration. We do not give a single frequency: it will be specified with the documentation for your model.

What warranty applies?

Warranty and after-sales conditions are being validated with the manufacturer. They will be specified in the quotation.

Specifications come from the manufacturer’s catalogue; anything still to be confirmed is flagged. This site is a demonstration: no online payment.
